Our Process

Miara clothing is an amalgamation of fabrics, textures, colours, feel, different techniques of printing & embroidery and imagination inspired by life and the world around us.

Fabrics

Fabrics sourced from various parts of India. We choose the best cottons & weaves from Southern India to the Silks & Jacquards of Benares, from the Ikat Weaves of Oriya to the Prints of Rajasthan.

The fabrics are then carefully paired & designed to fuse the elements of the fabrics with the help of various techniques of prints & embroidery. It is the tailored to various designs keeping in mind that the outfit continues to celebrate tradition & yet have a modern touch to it.

Embroidery

India has been home to & a treasure trove to a variety in the Art of Embroidery for generations. Artisans have used their talent on our garments ever since. We have kept in tune with the progress in technology efficiency & their talent is used enhanced & exhibited in our clothing line in a more efficient and precise manner.

Once the fabrics are chosen, based on inspiration & knowledge, ourclothing is designed with the chosen set of fabric to go through the process of embroidery - playing around with various threads and colours to enhance the beauty of the design. Our garments are decorated with Hand Embroidery done on “Khatiyas” and Computer Embroidery done on tables.

Printing

The beauty of designing on fabrics is like giving a painter a canvas & watching imaginations taking shape & coming to life with an array of designs and colours. These printed fabrics are enhanced with embroidery and sometimes vice-versa. Printing Techniques used in our creation are Hand-block printing, Screen-printing and Digital-printing. Each type of printing has its own technique and beauty visible on Miara garments.

Hand-Block Printing

Block printing is a technique of printing where a carved piece of wooden block is used to imprint a design on fabric. This technique is an age-old process that requires high levels of skills to for make blocks & then print them on fabric. This type of talent is diminishing due to the influence of modern techniques of printing making it more valuable and aesthetic.

Screen Printing

Screen printing is a technique in which a screen-mesh is used to transfer ink onto a fabric, except in areas made impermeable to the ink by a blocking a design stencil. A blade is moved across the screen to fill the open mesh apertures with ink, and a reverse stroke then causes the screen to touch the fabric momentarily along a line of contact. This transfers the wet dye to the fabric and screen springs back after the blade has passed. One colour is printed at a time, so several screens can be used to produce a multicoloured image or design. This is a popular and advanced hand process which gives a finesse to the finish.

Finishing and Packaging

Talented fingers and hawk-eyes are set in action on the stitching & finishing of the garment. Drafts, necklines, sleeves & trimmings – all come-in together under the talented & agile fingers of tailors…. And then just like magic, a new garment is born! A little snip here & a little tack there – the hawk’s vision is set to see that the garment is perfect & at its best.

The last on the check-test list is ticked when the garment is ironed & packed… ready for dispatch to the destined owner of a “MIARA” outfit – efficiently created with love to make her feel beautiful.

This is how we write our story. Miara brings together talents of local Indian artisans in an outfit to your wardrobe, with the intention to make you look the best in moments when you celebrate life.
